San Jose, CABrief Description:Specific Diagnostics is seeking a Microbiologist with experience in Research and Development. You will be a key contributor and critical to the success of the company. As part of the Microbiology team, you will be responsible for designing, documenting, and testing both instruments and consumables to support the company's product lines.Description:We are seeking a Microbiologist with experience in Research and Development. You will be responsible for executing protocols and writing reports. As part of the Microbiology team, you will help build up toward the commercial readiness of our products and will execute laboratory functions.Primary Duties:Perform microbiological testing to support ongoing study protocols as well as testing of new instruments, AST panels, and consumables.Daily data analysis for completed assays.Perform initial inspection of incoming consumables.Process biological specimen samples using aseptic techniques and lab safety protocols.Coordinate with other teams and departments.Create and present reports on conducted experiments and failure investigations.Participate in regular lab operations including running experiments, maintenance, cleaning, and routine tests.Perform other duties and projects related to lab and department operations as requested by management.Provide mentorship and guidance to junior scientists and laboratory staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development.Minimum Experience:B.S. with 5+ years relevant experience or Master’s with 3+ years in Microbiology and/or Medical Diagnostics is desired.Experience working within a fast-paced environment with strong research background and proven proficiency in data analysis, research design, troubleshooting, and evaluation of new technologies and procedures.Experience with the standard tools and methods of microbiology and aseptic techniques such as pipetting, plating, media preparation, bacterial culture, isolation, etc.Experience in the development of clinical diagnostic and susceptibility assays for infectious diseases.Strong organizational skills, decision-making, communication, teamwork, and troubleshooting skills.Knowledge of aseptic techniques, good documentation practices (GDocP), and good laboratory practices (cGLP).Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex scientific concepts clearly and concisely.Knowledge of ISO 13488 and FDA Quality System Regulations is desired.Clinical microbiology laboratory experience is preferred.
