Nesco Resource, a national staffing company, is working with a leading defense client to assist them in their search for a Controller.Controller

FUNCTION:Responsible for directing accounting operations, fiscal plans, and policies, maintaining fiscal records, and preparing financial reports for the business unit. Supervises Accounting Department staff including Senior Accountant, A/P A/R Associate, Payroll/Cost Accountant, and Accounting Intern.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for preparing month-end closings, financial forecasts, budgetary controls, cost accounting, internal/external audits, internal/external reporting, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.Provide financial advice to the manufacturing department through the study of financial data.Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, and maintain other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system).Manage fixed asset depreciation and accounts receivable processes.Meet corporate reporting and federally mandated reporting requirements of the division.Manage, train, and evaluate accounting staff.Strong background in inventory accounting is expected. Ensure accuracy of physical inventory and control the flow of raw materials, tools, and other assets in the manufacturing department through cost analysis.Review accounting standards and internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP.Supervise external financial audits and help enhance compliance with relevant financial regulations.Demonstrate the ability to prepare, analyze, and comprehend financial reports, identifying trends, risks, variances, and opportunities for improvement.Responsible for the preparation of ETC's through job costing analysis as well as preparing the cost of goods sold on all sales.Strong leadership skills.Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and established company procedures.Responsible for the preparation of reports, such as budget reports and cash flow reports, as required.Prepare analytical studies of accounting data, including cost analysis of labor and material, assets, liabilities, etc.Assist outside accountants with the annual audit.Prepare detailed cost summaries and inventories to determine job costs, unit costs, etc.Establish and maintain files and records necessary for the orderly operation of the accounting function.Accumulate data to prepare and make monthly journal entries.Enter journal entries in the system to generate general ledger reports.Prepare periodic budget and cash flow reports as required.Prepare payroll tax reports as required.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.15+ years of accounting/finance experience and 2+ years of cost accounting.Manufacturing experience required; Defense industry strongly preferred.7+ years of experience in a supervisory capacity required.Costpoint highly preferred, along with ERP systems and Microsoft Office proficiency.Work Environment:
