Job Summary:
Lighthouse Christian School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Finance Director to oversee our financial operations. This role is vital to ensuring the financial health of our school, supporting our mission to provide a Christ-centered education to our students.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage all accounting operations, including posting journal entries and verifying billings, invoices, and checks.
Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Track and prepare monthly budget variance reports.
Manage payroll and benefits, with experience in ADP or similar systems preferred.
Oversee accounts receivable (A/R) payment plans and collections.
Post accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions.
Assist in completing complex financial calculations and reconciliations.
Reconcile accounts receivable and bank statements on a monthly basis.
Perform ACH and wire transfers, and ensure error-free accounting transactions.
Analyze financial trends and communicate financial status to the Head of Schools and relevant departments.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with school policies and procedures.
Lead and manage the accounting and finance team effectively.
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
Proficiency in spreadsheet software and financial tools; experience with Quickbooks and FACTS is preferred.
Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years of related work experience.
Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and general ledger functions.
Excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and quantitative skills.
Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, lead effectively, and manage conflict with students, parents, and co-workers.
Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic non-profit environment.
