Functions under the general supervision of the Director of the School of Music or the Director’s designee. Manages, coordinates, and schedules all School of Music faculty, students, visiting artists and scholars, alumni and development events.

Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree, preferably music performance related.One year of experience in arts management or related areas.Experience with spreadsheet, database, and page-layout applications.Experience with website management, social media platforms, and live-streaming skills.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively with a varied and diverse array of constituents.Excellent organizational and management skills.Ability to work a flexible schedule.Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in arts administration/management.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesConceptualizes a vision for School of Music Events.Negotiates and creates contracts for guest artists and lecturers.Produces recital programs for all guest artist concerts and special events (Jazz Weekend, Vocal Choral Day, Summer Music Institute, etc.) and coordinates recital room reservations.Produces special events and camps for the School of Music such as Jazz Weekend, Vocal Choral Day, Summer Music Institute, Drum Major Color Guard camp, etc.Coordinates, schedules, and manages all School of Music faculty, students, visiting artists and scholars, alumni, and development events.Works with the School of Music office staff, college staff, and University Communications to design, produce, and distribute public relations items including programs, flyers, newsletters, event calendars, and brochures.Maintains School of Music website and social media pages.Organizes, staffs, and supervises School of Music displays and events at on- and off-campus conferences and workshops.Supervises student staff.Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.

About the DepartmentThe School of Music is located in a state-of-the-art 119,000 square foot facility with a 500-seat concert hall housing a 61-rank Casavant organ, a 100-seat recital hall, MIDI technology labs, recording facilities, and 79 practice rooms. The School of Music has 30 full- and part-time faculty and an enrollment of over 400 undergraduate and graduate majors and minors. Additional information is available at http://www.mus.cmich.edu.
