Job Summary Overview
Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Principal and Major Gifts, the Director of Major Gifts will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts with a focus on major gift ($25,000+) pipeline development in assigned geographic regions and/or markets. The primary focus will be Texas-based donors and prospects in the markets of Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio.
The Director of Major Gifts is responsible for meeting individual fundraising and activity goals, which will be accomplished through regular travel to assigned markets for relationship building. This position will also utilize longstanding and emerging V Foundation fundraising events to develop existing and new donor relationships and philanthropic opportunities.
Key Responsibilities/Activities:
85%:
Manage all stages of a robust major gift donor portfolio of individuals located in designated major markets, primarily in Texas. Activity will focus on early stage (Identification/Qualification) of portfolio building, leading opportunities that will help the V Foundation and its Major Gifts team achieve ambitious growth goals.
Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual activity goals to achieve short- and long-term revenue goals.
Collaborate with the Executive Director of Principal and Major Gifts, Senior Director of Major Gifts, and fellow Directors/Assistant Directors of Major Gifts (5) on strategy for individual and team goal achievement.
Detailed and disciplined utilization of donor database software for documenting and identifying donor pipeline activity and opportunities.
15% : Lead key individual donor relationships related to V Foundation fundraising signature events. In collaboration with the Executive Director of Principal and Major Gifts and Signature Events leadership, the Director of Major Gifts will utilize V Foundation events in Austin, TX to strengthen donor commitment to the mission. These events will also serve as an opportunity to identify new major gift donor portfolio opportunities.
Collaborate with the Executive Director of Principal and Major Gifts, event leadership, and others on pre-fundraising event strategy for top individual donors and prospects.
Collaborate with the Executive Director of Principal and Major Gifts and Signature Events leadership on committee development and performance for an annual Austin, TX event.
Identify post-event major gift pipeline opportunities and develop appropriate strategies for engagement.
Education, Skills, Experience and Other Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors degree with 5-plus years relevant experience.
Proactive, self-starter with a strong sense of purpose.
Demonstrated track record of success in developing and securing five- and six-figure philanthropic gifts.
Knowledge of and commitment to detailed and accurate CRM database reporting.
A belief in the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and action that demonstrates this commitment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to connect ones individual performance goals to team and organizational goals.
