Stake Center Locating is looking for a Safety Director to join our team in Greensboro, NC, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. This individual will have extensive experience in an industrial service industry with a heavy emphasis on field operations. This senior leadership role is crucial in ensuring the highest standards of safety across our operations, driving compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering a culture of safety excellence within our organization while leading our safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, deep industry knowledge, and a proven track record of successfully managing comprehensive safety programs in complex industrial environments. The Safety Director will work closely with the executive team to foster a high-performance culture and ensure the company's growth and success through its people.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership : Develop and execute the company's safety strategy aligned with business goals, ensuring safety is integrated into all aspects of operations and decision-making processes.
Regulatory Compliance : Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards applicable to the industrial service industry.
Risk Management : Assess and mitigate safety risks associated with company operations, including transportation, locating, and corporate activities.
Safety Culture Development : Champion a proactive safety culture through effective leadership, communication, training, and employee engagement initiatives.
Program Development and Implementation : Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures.
Incident Investigation and Analysis : Lead investigations of incidents, accidents, near misses, and safety violations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting : Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor safety performance, analyze trends, and report findings to senior management.
Stakeholder Engagement : Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, and HR, as well as external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies and industry associations.
Budget Oversight : Manage the safety department budget effectively, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to support safety initiatives and priorities.
Educational/Certification Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Master’s degree preferred.
Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or similar credentials are highly desirable.
Qualifications
At least 10 years of progressive experience in safety management roles within the industrial service sector, with a proven track record of leadership and achievement.
Expert knowledge of safety regulations and standards relevant to the industrial service industry (e.g., DOT, OSHA, etc.).
Experience in a high growth geographically diverse service company
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex safety issues and develop effective solutions.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, sometimes under pressure, while maintaining a focus on safety excellence.
Willingness to travel domestically as needed to visit company sites, attend meetings, or participate in industry conferences.
