Even though substance abuse and mental health disorders transcend language and cultural barriers, language differences often block a person from accessing proper care and, ultimately, the opportunity for a fulfilling and complete life. Our client has multiple openings in Queens for addiction counselor roles.
What you will own
Completes intake process and arrives at treatment recommendations and level of care decisions that areappropriate to the client's level of functioning and medical necessity.
Completes psychosocial assessments.
Develops initial and comprehensive individualized treatment plans based on client's needs, usingclient's words, and that have measurable objectives within established timelines, based on assessment,psychosocial, client's assessed stage of change, and in consultation with the client and treatment team asappropriate.
Provides individual counseling based on treatment plans and client-centered needs.
Conducts group counseling.
Conducts evidence-based practices to the individual needs of the clients (EBPs include, but are notlimited to, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Matrix Model, Trauma FocusedCognitive Behavioral Therapy).
Responds to client feedback/suggestions.
Is responsible for verification of employment and timely and accurate collection of pay stubs and clientfees.
Monitors client's savings.
Conducts discharge planning with the client.
Skills you will bring to the table
Knowledge of evidence-based practice model of treatment (MI, CBT, CRAFT, etc.)
Team mindset
Ability to stay calm in a crisis
Strong interpersonal communication (written and spoken)
Culturally sensitive and empathetic
Proficient computer skills (Word, Outlook, etc.)
Flexibility in weekend shift coverage or swap
Familiarity with electronic documentation programs
Non-negotiables
CASAC and 1 year experience working with applicable populations who have substance abuse/co-occurring disorders; or
CASAC-T with 2-3 years' experience working with applicable populations who have substanceabuse/co-occurring disorders; or
HS Diploma and 6 years' experience working with applicable populations who have substance abuse/co-occurring disorders.
Must have computer skills.
Must successfully complete a criminal background check, obtain clearance from the Office of Childrenand Family Services and be drug free.
Must be open to working any shift when given a month notice
