The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Financial Operations Directorate (FOD) is committed to ensuring the financial integrity of the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNLCR) by providing timely, accurate, and relevant information to internal and external stakeholders. Our team collaborates to effectively monitor and manage fiscal resources in a responsible, compliant, and professional manner in a dynamic environment. KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIESSetting up new general ledger accounts, organizations, and linking them within the Deltek Costpoint (ERP system)Maintaining open/close of period/sub period in Deltek CostpointPerforming project administration - initial setup, opening projects, closing project, and project changes within Deltek CostpointRecording and reconciling cash receipts to the general ledgerReconciling general ledger and subsidiary accounts and initiating any necessary correctionsPreparing and entering journal entries to the general ledger as well as importing journal entries via pre-processor into Deltek CostpointComplete month-end close responsibilities in accordance with established closing timelinesSend completed reconciliations to corporatePerforming other accounting related functions as requiredBASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

Possession of Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalencyStrong analytical skills and attention to detailAbility to work with strict deadlines in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work in a team environmentAbility to learn new technologyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsKnowledge of accounting principles and practicesMicrosoft Office software with intermediate level MS Excel experienceAbility to apply reason, logic, and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issuesGood time management skills with the ability to implement work activities in accordance with priorities and schedulesCustomer service oriented with a positive attitudeAbility to obtain and maintain a security clearancePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of two (2) years of general accounting experience with responsibility for general ledger, month-end close, project management or account reconciliations.
