Bennington College seeks a highly motivated

Shipping and Receiving Clerk

to provide support to the College's shipping, receiving, and packaging area. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk plays a critical role in providing support to the entire campus community - students, faculty, and staff - and their shipping/receiving needs. Serving as the first point of contact, the Clerk handles all incoming/outgoing packages, interoffice mail, and deliveries on campus. Specifically, the Clerk handles the following responsibilities:

receive/unload, inspect, sort, register, and store goods/packages using designated shipping/receiving computer programs;organize packages to ensure an efficient storage and delivery system;maintain accurate inventory and delivery records and ensure timely notification and delivery of packages to their correct location;organize mail and packages for nightly mail pick up and schedule pickup with designated external carriers (UPS, USPS, and FedEx);maintain cleanliness and organization of the loading dock and package areastroubleshoot shipping or service issues as they arise work to solve problems in a positive and expeditious manner; and

The position requires the ability to meet daily deadlines and requires flexibility to meet changing priorities. This work may require the use of a hand cart, forklift, and pallet jack for loading or unloading.

One of the most important facets of this role is building relationships with our campus community. Given that the position interacts with all individuals and areas of campus, strong communication skills are essential. Candidates must be highly organized, possess keen attention to detail and be able to work independently. The position requires a high school diploma (or equivalent); shipping, receiving and mail services experience preferred. The position demonstrated knowledge of UPS, FedX, USPS and DHL shipping systems preferred, as well as Google Suite; experience with package training software desired (such as Notifii, UPS CampusShip or USPS Click Ship). The position requires a valid driver's license. Forklift experience/certification is desired, but the College is willing to train. This position will work in/around the College's loading dock and will require the individual to transport mail during all weather conditions. The position requires the ability to lift and transport up to 100 lbs occasionally and up to 50 lbs frequently.
