FUNCTIONAL SUMMARY:

Supports the accuracy of the Financial Statements by ensuring journal entries are completed according to GAAP, supported by adequate documentation and posted accurately and timely. Assists the AVP Accounting with the monthly close activities ensuring completeness of all financial transactions by stated deadlines. Responsible for the accurate reconciliation of any balance sheet accounts assigned.

Participates in the month-end close, ensures the recording of all required journal entries are completed by stated deadlines.Ensure accuracy of financial results through review and accuracy of journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, fixed assets, investments and prepaid accounts. Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with GAAP and internal policies and procedures.Reconciles bank accounts on a daily basis, researching and resolving any discrepancies and ensures all necessary general ledger entries are recorded. Maintains the outstanding check listing to ensure stale dated checks are resolved timely.Responsible for posting daily activity for various accounts ensuring adequate documentation and timely recording of all financial transactions.Oversees and provides guidance to staff accountants.Provide commentary and support for monthly flux review of the balance sheet and P&L.Assists the AVP Accounting with all required Audits.Assist in the improvement of monthly close processes to increase productivity, ensure GAAP compliance and create efficiencies.Partner with cross-functional teams on a regular basis to identify areas for improvement and solve problems.QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates Degree or equivalent required.Minimum of three years’ experience in Accounting/Finance with supervisory experience preferred.Strong working knowledge of financial and accounting concepts (internal controls, accruals, expenses, account reconciliations, etc.)Meticulous attention to detail, a demonstrated problem solver and proven analytical skills.Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.Excellent time management and organizational skills.Proficient in spreadsheets, MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and financial software applications is required.
