Mechanical Inspector DESCRIPTION:

Perform precision mechanical inspection of machined parts and incoming materials to verify compliance to

specification. Ensure conformance requirements through the use of calibrated measuring equipment and visual

inspection. Interpret customer drawings and specifications, and reference company work instructions and process

travelers. Must be able to work off-shift, weekends and holidays when business demands require it.

Mechanical Inspector ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Basic blueprint reading & shop mathTrigonometryInspect first off parts from manufacturing work centersCollect measurement data for use in First Article Inspection (FAI) reportsCollect and provide data required for critical part Final Inspection Reports (FIRs)Complete customer required part to print data forms and send with partsPerform roving in-process inspection of parts being run in ManufacturingInspect in-house and out-sourced in process production run partsReview routers to ensure that upstream operations have been completed and signed offInspect in-house and out-sourced in process production run partsReview routers to ensure that upstream operations have been completed and signed offComplete Discrepant Material Report (DMR) forms for rejected partsInspect incoming purchased parts from compliance to specificationsInspect outgoing material for packaging and conformance to requirementsPerform surface plate and comparator setupsFill out and file required reports, logs, databases, forms, and documentsReport safety or process control concerns to the Inspection Team Leader or Plant Quality ManagerComply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and acceptedsafe work practicesPerform additional related duties as assignedBasic CMM alignment & manual CMM measurementsRECOMMENDED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:ASQ Certified Quality Inspector Certification desirable.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Minimum of 5years’ experience performing in-process and final inspection preferably in a machining,automotive or aerospace businessThorough knowledge of GD&TCMM operation requiredAbility to correctly use and interpret basic measuring tools including weight gauge, micrometer, caliper scale(linear), gauge blocks, thread gauges, and comparative standardsVisual cosmetic inspection experience requiredSupervisory experience a plusCMM programming desiredGood written and verbal communication skillsAbility to interact with fellow employees and customers in a professional manner is essentialAbility to understand and follow instructionsSemi-independent; can work with limited supervision and directionMECHANICAL INSPECTOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:

Occasionally pushing and or/lifting items up to 40 pounds.
