GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The GIS Data Analyst provides general support and assistance using and maintaining the city's GIS. This position designs and maintains geodatabases and performs data analyses and QA/QC. The GIS Data Analyst will provide cartographic support and GIS training to city departments as needed. This position will be responsible for designing and maintaining web applications. The GIS Data Analyst will also create and utilize scripting to automate processes, run applications, and maintain data integrity. This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to the GIS Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
GIS Support and Analysis:
Create, edit, query, maintain and analyze geographic and tabular data using ESRI ArcGIS software and applications. Produce maps, visual aids, and web applications as needed Collaborate with other departments to understand their GIS needs and develop solutions. Provide GIS technical support to staff, the public, and other GIS users. Geodatabase Management and Scripting:
Maintain and manage geodatabases, ensuring data integrity and security. Develop, execute, and maintain scripts using SQL, Python, and Arcade for various applications and functions. Troubleshoot geodatabase issues and optimize performance. Coding and Software Development:
Develop, execute, and maintain scripts using SQL, Python, and Arcade for various applications and functions. Develop improvements to existing software processes. Develop web and mobile applications utilizing ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise Third-Party Coordination:
Coordinate data updates with third-party vendors, adjacent localities, and the State. Provide GIS liaison and support to third-party entities. Technical Support and Training:
Provide GIS technical support to staff, the public, and other GIS users. Provide training as needed to staff using GIS software, applications, and data. Create and maintain user guides and documentation. Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS
Working knowledge of GIS theory, concepts, and standards. Working knowledge of cartographic principles and standards. Strong understanding of database design and management, and data QA/QC and analysis. Proficiency in writing code and developing software solutions. REQUIRED ABILITIES
Ability to manage and coordinate third-party software support. Ability to read and understand construction drawings, plats, and diagrams. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and training skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a bachelor's degree in Geospatial Analysis, Geography, or related field, and 2 years related experience. Experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise platforms, geodatabase design and management. Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, and in SQL, Python, and Arcade scripting. Additional education and experience may be substituted where applicable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
ENVIROMENTAL EXPOSURES
The GIS Data Analyst will primarily work in an office environment but may be required to travel to various city department locations. The role may involve lifting and carrying equipment, as well as occasional after-hours work for system maintenance and upgrades.
