Job Description and Requirements

Under general supervision, the IT Database Administrator II is responsible for installing, monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting Oracle and SQL databases throughout the enterprise. Responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining new Oracle or SQL databases related to internally developed and third-party designed applications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Design, develop, test, implement, maintain, monitor and support all Oracle and SQL databases to ensure maximum availability and acceptable levels of performance.

Perform system management and administration functions for Oracle and SQL databases to include database security, reorganizations, backup and recovery, space management, performance tuning, data purging and change management.

Perform patch management and software/database upgrades on all Oracle and SQL databases.

Assist with installation of major software releases.

Measure the key metrics of database growth/performance and provide recommendations to Management.

Install, configure and maintain Oracle RAC and Grid Control.

Install and maintain disaster recovery environments for Oracle and MS SQL Server databases.

Replicate production data to reporting server and Data Warehouse environment.

Provides support to software developers in the area of database design and development to include application data access requirements and coding database descriptions.

Provide 24x7 on call support for assigned systems and participate in periodic disaster recovery exercises.

Requirements:

Associate's Degree in a closely related field, Bachelor's Degree preferred

At least 5 years progressively responsible experience in Database Administration

Skills and/or Certifications and Licensing:

Comprehensive understanding of relational database systems

Strong knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database systems

Strong analytical, problem solving, communication, time management and organizational skills

Proficient with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server system management tools and Microsoft Office software

Basic understanding of networking concepts

Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to establish/maintain; effective working relationships with co-workers, employees and the general public
