Job Summary:
The
High Voltage Electrician
is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing high voltage electrical systems and equipment. This role requires specialized knowledge of electrical systems operating at voltages typically exceeding 600 volts. The High Voltage Electrician ensures that all electrical work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Maintenance:
Install, test, and maintain high voltage electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and cables.Troubleshooting and Repair:
Diagnose and repair electrical faults in high voltage systems and equipment to minimize downtime and ensure reliability.Inspection and Testing:
Conduct regular inspections and testing of high voltage systems to identify potential issues and ensure safety and compliance with regulations.Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures when working with high voltage systems to ensure a safe work environment.Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including maintenance logs, test results, and safety reports.Technical Support:
Provide technical support and guidance to junior electricians and other team members as needed.Emergency Response:
Respond to electrical emergencies promptly and effectively to minimize risks and restore power.Continuous Improvement:
Identify and implement improvements to electrical systems and processes to enhance performance and efficiency.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a formal apprenticeship program in electrical work or a related field is preferred.Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with high voltage electrical systems.
Certifications:Journeyman or Master Electrician license as applicable by state.Certification in high voltage electrical work is a plus.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and regulations.Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.Proficiency in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Physical Requirements:Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying environmental conditions.Ability to lift and move heavy equipment.Willingness to work overtime or on-call shifts as needed.
Work Environment:
The role involves working in various environments, including industrial facilities, outdoor sites, and confined spaces.The position may require travel to different job sites as needed.Safety equipment and procedures are mandatory due to the high-risk nature of the work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sitting for long periods. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper; occasional lifting of items weighing up to (25) twenty-five pounds such as files, stacks of paper, reference and other materials. Moving from place to place within the office; minimum reaching for items above and below desk level. Strength, dexterity, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
