Description
The Staff Accountant is a full-time, exempt position of Denver Rescue Mission (DRM). The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Assistant Controller and is responsible for finance/accounting functions as listed below.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform certain day-to-day accounting functions as assigned including:o Accounts receivable
o General ledger
o Fixed assets
Prepare bank account reconciliations between the general ledger and the cash management module.Reconciles the prepaid assets monthly and records the appropriate journal entry.Compile monthly invoicing for government contracts.Prepare the monthly fixed asset reports. Work with VP of Operations and Maintenance Director to ensure that capital assets are recorded properly.Coordinate with various staff to ensure that the fixed asset ledger is accurate and that retirements are properly recorded.Assists in support and preparation of the annual audit.Write-up and input of journal entries into general ledger as needed.Identifies and advises change(s) to current processes that are within the position responsibilities.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.Minimum 2 years of accounting work experience. Will consider recent college graduate in lieu of experience.A combination of education and experience may be substituted.Abide by the Employee HandbookCPA or CMA Certification candidate preferred.Solid understanding in US GAAP.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.Prefer experience with Great Plains, SalesForce, Excel Pivot tables, and Adaptive Insights.Strong interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communicator, team leadership and the ability to handle multiple tasks required.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Must be a Christian holding to the beliefs set forth in the Statement of Faith, expressed by a personal testimony and Christian conduct.
