Insurance Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:
Provides expertise in insurance pre-certification and authorization of services by calling insurance companies and patients to verify insurance information. Develops and maintains positive relationships with referring physicians and patients. Ensures the team is delivering the highest level of service.
This position is full-time Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
(35%) Insurance Administration
Prioritizes work load to ensure all patients are authorized prior to their examDetermines if patient's insurance is a part of the provider networkMakes outgoing calls to insurance companies for pre-certification or any authorizationReceives pre-authorization from patients and/or insurance companies and documentsContacts patient and referring offices using HIPAA guidelines prior to scheduled exam when additional insurance information is neededAccurately enters a variety of information including date schedule requests received, patient name, referring physician and procedures into computer systemMaintains positive interactions with referring offices, patients and staffObtains signs and symptoms in order to support medical necessityObtains all workers compensation approvals from insurance companies prior to scheduled examCompletes payor-related information i.e., payor, payor class, date of appointment(35%) Team Management
Supports associates ensuring highest level of patient satisfactionEnsures comprehensive knowledge of the company’s policies and procedures for all associatesEstablishes associate schedules to provide for planned time off, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and adequate center coverageMonitors and approves timecardsParticipates in staff planning and hiring process along with managementInitiates and participates in associate performance evaluations, compensation and development of associates including performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions and/or terminationsLeads regular staff meetings and associate one-on-onesDevelops and monitors the teams’ performance through QA processImplements training program for new associatesFosters a team environment, ensuring appropriate communication between departmentsCreates and updates center’s information manuals as needed(25%) Price Quotes
Verifies insurance eligibility and benefitsCalculate patients expected financial responsibilityNotify patients of expected financial responsibility(5%) Completes other duties as assigned
Requirements
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent4+ years previous health care experience working with a variety of health insurance plans for pre-certification and authorization of benefit coveragePrior supervisory or leadership experience in an office environmentPrior experience with managed care and physician office schedulingProficient with using computer systems and typingKnowledge of medical terminologyKnowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codingAbility to read and interpret physician notes, diagnosis and other clinical documentationAbility to multitaskAbility to focus and maintain direction in the tasks at hand under pressureAll remote workers may be required to work in the office intermittentlyPreferred:
Associate's DegreeBilingualWORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires the use of office equipment, such as computers, fax machines, telephones and copiersRequires talking on the telephone and computer related activities for extended periods of timeRequires the ability to see, hear, speak, write and keyRequires the ability to do data entry for periods of 30-45 minutes per hourMay have exposure to respiratory secretions (such as coughing, TB, etc.), blood, and/or other bodily fluids via patient contactMay require some lifting, bending and stooping
