Attorneys in our office develop their legal skills in a collaborative environment while doing interesting and meaningful work and maintaining a work-life balance.The Wyoming Attorney General's Office seeks an attorney to serve in the Civil Division. This attorney will represent Wyoming, the Department of Education, the State Board of Education, and various licensing boards. The attorney will assist these agencies and others with advice on legal matters on a day-to-day basis, represent clients in litigation and appeals, draft formal legal opinions, review contracts, and review administrative rules and regulations.The Attorney General's office provides attorneys an opportunity to receive mentorship, develop expertise, and excel at and use skills in a dynamic and collegial work environment. The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.Advise client agencies (Department of Education, various licensing boards, and other state agencies as assigned) on policies, pending litigation, case law, statutes, and rules related to the agency's statutory duties;Litigate cases in state and federal trial and appellate courts, as well as administrative contested cases;Research and draft legal memoranda, rules, letters, manuals, and other documents on a variety of issues;Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsPREFERENCES:To the extent that you are already familiar with civil litigation, administrative law, or some of the unique challenges that arise when representing a government agency, we want you to apply. To the extent that you are not familiar with these areas of law, but you have an interest, we still want you to apply.
