POSITION PURPOSE:

This position is client-facing. The Design Manager will act as the main point of contact for design coordination and construction administration with the client (Gov. and/or D/B Contractor) and the design team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for design deliverables for design-bid-build projects (full plans, specifications, design analysis), design-build RFP documents, engineering studies, feasibility reports, and other engineering requirements.

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and according to scope.

Provide effective project management to reduce project delivery costs and add value.

Responsible for construction phase services, including coordinating responses to RFIs, shop drawing reviews, and construction modification documents.

Lead the design team in developing project documents, coordinating with stakeholders and subcontractors.

Serve as the primary point of contact with the client, ensuring project deliverables meet requirements.

Ensure overall quality of project documents and adherence to LBYD Federal's Quality Program.

Enhance project quality by providing guidance to the team.

Develop and execute project management approaches to meet project and client needs.

Initial development of project fee proposals and coordination with discipline directors for budget input.

Create communication plans and conduct status review meetings with project team members and clients.

Monitor and review internal costs, operational budgets, schedules, and staffing for project teams.

Plan, organize, and staff key design positions, mentoring team members in project management methods.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

15+ years of experience as a Design Manager in an Architectural or Engineering organization preferred; 20+ years in related fields considered.

Experience with industrial building types in all phases of design and construction administration.

Strong knowledge of design and construction, building systems/components, contract management, and project delivery methods.

Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated experience in team-building and client relationship building.

Special Requirements:

Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Professional Registration (P.E.) or Registered Architect (RA) preferred; PMI Certification considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of Federal Design Criteria (e.g., Uniform Facilities Criteria).

Design and project management experience within Federal and/or DOD markets.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Site visits during extreme conditions may be required. If not based in Las Vegas, monthly travel to Las Vegas may be required depending on project/client needs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor office environment with occasional on-site trips. Remote work greater than 60 miles from a North Wind office will be considered.
