Investigative Visual Photojournalist

to join our award-winning Investigative Team. The journalist we’re looking for understands how to use the best tools to tell complex stories, sometimes with challenging visual options. The right candidate will also show a willingness to break the mold with visual storytelling.Investigative experience is important. This photojournalist needs to know how to best elevate both short-term and long-term investigative projects on issues that impact our communities. The successful candidate must be eager to tell powerful stories with a team by capturing creative video & audio elements for these stories in a deadline environment. This candidate should also be a skilled editor with sharp post-production skills including motion graphics design.Our photojournalism is rooted in storytelling, and we pride ourselves on driving change in the industry. Operates within the highest standards of journalistic integrityPassion for capturing video & audio elements that produce compelling and engaging investigations for audiences on all platformsEdit stories with Adobe Premiere and After Effects with ability to adapt to other editing platforms as neededDSLR and Sony FS series camera experience preferredInvestigative photography and storytelling experience preferredFAA licensed drone pilot is a plusAbility to collaborate with reporters and producers or work independently and develop a vision for storiesAbility to operate live remote equipmentFamiliarity with all distribution platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Internet, etc.Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions, and suggest story ideasExcellent organizational skillsFill in as needed for general assignment needsRequirements:

BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field3-5 years of experience as a TV photojournalist and news editor preferredInvestigative experience in broadcast journalismMust help promote a culture of innovative storytellingMust be a positive contributor and collaboratorAdvance storytelling experience requiredMust be able to tell the news story creatively with strong audio and visual skillsMust be able to make quick decisions while working under pressured deadlinesMust be flexible with schedule, reliable and dependable, with ability to travel with short noticeActive member of the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) preferredStrong computer skills in a mobile environment requiredMust have a valid driver's license, able to lift up to 40 lbs. and occasionally up to 80 lbs. with or without an accommodationBenefits:TEGNA offers comprehensive benefits designed to safeguard the physical, mental and financial health of our employees and their families.
