Job Description

The Manager collaborates with the Vice President of Research, Executive Director of Academic Affairs, and the Executive Vice President (EVP) and Dean of Academic Affairs on strategic organizational wide goals. They will serve as strategic leadership and representative of the Dean for existing and future project and program initiatives across academics and the organization.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Manages a wide range of complex and highly sensitive strategic and operational projects and duties in collaboration with Executive VP, Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty. Coordinates and translates initiatives and plans into action for EVP using critical discretion and judgement.

Develops recommendations that involve subtle, sensitive, and sophisticated relationships considering divergent and often contradictory demands and reactions ensuring that projects and policies get completed in a timely manner.

In close collaboration with academic leaders, acts as project manager, advisor, and internal consultant by initiating, developing, and supporting new directions, long- and short-range plans, and innovative initiatives. Uses strategic goals as framework for all business plans, actions, and decisions. Leads competitive analysis, environmental assessments, and scenario development in support of key multi-disciplinary academic committees and initiatives.

Represents the Dean in a variety of forums, including leading or participating in special projects, participating in medical center initiatives or planning processes, and responding to ad-hoc requests for assistance from the Dean’s Office.

Prepares the Dean for certain meetings and events by summarizing and preparing responses, correspondence, and tracking action items to ensure responsiveness and closure.

Serves as the facilitator for the resolution and implementation of operational issues across multiple cross-functional departments. Provides leadership in and fosters a culture for new practices or new technology that promotes efficiencies and improves systems or processes.

Compiles reports and presentations suitable and as requested for the Executive Team, Joint Venture Committees, Board presentations, and other external audiences.

Collaborates with organizational leadership and proactively problem solves ensuring adherence to state and federal laws and policies of the Medical Center.

Promotes multidisciplinary decision making, demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior. Assists in leadership development trainings for faculty, management, and executives across the organization.

Acts as the first point of contact within the Dean’s office and responds to critical inquiries and manages and facilitates communication between the office and other members of Administration, faculty, staff, state and federal agencies, and others as needed or requested.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Science, Public Health, or related field required. Master's preferred.

5 years of Program/Project Management Experience required and 5 years of Management, Supervisory, or Leadership Experience.

2 years of Academic Institution Experience preferred.
