Responsibilities
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms all work according to MSHA, FRA, AAR, BMHK RR, and H&K Safety policiesMaintains railcars by welding repairs or fabricating new partsCoordinates with General Foreman on ordering parts and keeping stock on propertyKeeps proper records for corporate and proper authority reviewCleans equipment as neededEnsures equipment is safely and securely parked and storedMaintains equipment by greasing properly and checking fluids daily (oils, coolant, fuel level)Performs daily checks on equipment to ensure proper operating conditionInforms General Foreman of Railroad Operations of cars to be added or removed from trainsO

Qualifications
Required Skills, Education, and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution OR of related experience and/or training
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
Railcar maintenance experienceClass 1 single car air test certifiedWelding, cutting, and fabrication experienceDemonstrated willingness and ability to learnVerbal and written communication skillsBasic computer skillsProblem solvingAble and willing to work a second shift scheduleAbility to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as neededAbility to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
Preferred Skills, Education, and ExperienceClass 2 single car air test certifiedExperience working in a quarry, heavy civil construction, or other outdoor industrial settingMSHA or other relevant safety certification
