Avionics Automation Test Engineer I/II
is responsible for the design, test, and integration of the electrical systems and electronics that form the backbone of our Space Systems missions. This role will involve software development and automation.(Please note: this position can be hired at the Avionics Automation Test Engineer I or Avionics Automation Test Engineer II level)WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:Develop automated testing software for hardware in support of test programsWork with our global team to develop and improve software test toolsCollaborate with the hardware design engineers to develop efficient testing strategies for Acceptance and Qualification test programsSupport the design and development of space flight hardware to increase the level of design for testability and manufacturabilitySupport the analysis of COTS component test levels against mission environmental test requirementsContribute to the development of engineering and business processes, including engineering and test processes, as well as other business processes to support Rocket Lab growth and capabilityContribute to the development of engineering best practice areas such as test, design for manufacture and engineering changeMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical disciplineProgramming experience in PythonExperience with software development on a Linux platformExperience with hardware development or electronics test engineeringUnderstanding of electrical test equipment, test procedures, data acquisition systems, and instrumentation2+ years of programming experience in PythonTHESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:Master's or PhD in engineering (software, computer, electrical, aerospace, mechanical, or other technical engineering discipline)Experience with time-series databases such as InfluxDB, and dashboarding software such as Grafana, docker, robot frameworkUnderstanding of designing hardware from concept through productionExperience with communication protocols like TCP/UDP, serial communication or similarADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focusRegularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writingMust be physically able to commute to buildingsOccasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noiseLevel and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one component of our total rewards package at Rocket Lab.
