You’ll act with integrity:

In consultation with Senior Parliamentary Counsel, provides comprehensive legal advice and support services to the Speaker, Clerk, the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, including the Office of the Assembly ("Assembly"), its committees, and Members of Provincial Parliament in all areas of law, with a focus on corporate law (procurement, contracts, human resources, and finance).You’ll support our collaboration as you:

Coordinate and provide legal advisory, policy, drafting, and litigation services to the Speaker, Clerk, Assembly, committees, and members/staff.Assess and prioritize files forwarded to the Office of Parliamentary Counsel. Reviews with Senior Parliamentary Counsel for guidance.Provide legal counsel for the Assembly's operations, including employment, contracts, privacy, technology, construction, policing and security, insurance, procurement, and commercial real estate. Also advises on the principles and application of federal and provincial laws, as well as the Assembly's policies and directives.Negotiate and draft various agreements, including but not limited to: procurement documents, employment contracts, commercial real estate contracts, technology and other supplier agreements, and inter- and extra-governmental agreements (memorandums of understanding).How You Qualify

You demonstrate excellence through your:

Proven experience in employment, technology (including SaaS sales agreements), construction, policing, security, insurance, procurement, and commercial real estate law.Proficiency in computer technology and software applications is required for interpreting materials, researching, writing, maintaining, and updating documents and databases.Possession of a JD or LLB degree.Membership (in good standing) or immediate eligibility for admission to the Law Society of Ontario with at least one year of experience, either in-house or in private practice, or a combination of both.Here’s what awaits you:
