Washington, DCWe are currently looking for both VRI and Onsite US-Based ASL interpreters. An ASL interpreter provides sign language interpretation services in a variety of settings, including working with a variety of individuals who are deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and/or oral, empowering individuals to advocate for themselves and their needs.Candidate Qualifications:
3 years’ experience working as an interpreter (preferred, but not required)An associate’s or bachelor’s degree (preferred, but not required)Interpreter certificationUnderstanding of deaf culture, social experiences of deaf and hard of hearing persons, history of education for students who have various levels of hearing loss, and current pedagogical trendsProven interpersonal skills when working with deaf and hearing impaired persons, communication service providers, instructors, and administratorsProficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, electronic scheduling, and internetExcellent written communication skillsAbility to work independently and within a teamResponsibilities:
Effectively interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken EnglishMaintain, as applicable, compliance with any national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirementsAdhere to guidelines for NAD-RID Code of Professional ConductAccurately complete assigned tasks/duties, projects, and paperwork promptly and within approved guidelinesPossess the ability to quickly learn and implement new and changing technologiesPossess the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly regulated environmentDemonstrate willingness and ability to complete additional duties and assignments on an ongoing basisAdditional Requirements:
Computer or LaptopWindows 10 or higherSteady wired internet connectionAt a minimum, download speeds of 20 Mbps and upload speeds of 10 MbpsWebcamUSB wired headsetBackdrop; use a contrasting, solid color like royal blue, charcoal, or bright green.Note:
