Associate General Counsel – Commercial Lending

The Huntington Legal Department is seeking an experienced attorney to support the Corporate, Specialty and Government Banking segment (CSG) of Huntington Commercial Bank and the Loan Syndications team in Huntington Capital Markets. CSG provides a full range of banking services to corporate clients across a range of industry verticals, including Healthcare, Technology and Telecom, Sponsor Finance, Fund Finance and Diversified Industries. The Loan Syndications team arranges and closes syndicated loans for clients across Huntington Commercial Bank.

Job Description

Serve as a trusted advisor to CSG and Loan Syndications leadership, helping them implement strategic initiatives;Advise the business with respect to new products and services, new industry verticals, and regulatory and related issues impacting financial institutions;Provide advice on complex syndicated loan and specialty finance transactions involving a variety of transaction structures and industries, including commitment letters, loan agreements, and collateral documentation;Prepare and update standard forms and procedures and manage outside counsel relationships;Partner with Risk, Credit, Operations, and Compliance colleagues regarding operational and regulatory risk and control issues and the applicability of federal and state law and regulation to the business;Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups;Work in partnership with other members of the Commercial Legal Team to establish best practices across all Huntington Commercial Bank businesses.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and JD required.Licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of that state/jurisdiction.A minimum of 8 years of law firm or in-house legal department experience advising financial institutions.

Preferred Qualifications

Substantial experience advising on syndicated commercial lending transactions across a range of transaction structures and industries.Proficient in handling a large number of issues and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Ability to understand business needs and partner with key stakeholders to create solutions.Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact effectively and professionally at all levels.

Exempt Status:

Yes (not eligible for overtime pay)
