The salary range for this position is $70,765 - $95,000/annually, based on experience and education. We celebrate bringing our whole selves to work every day.The Denver City Attorney’s Office seeks a Legal Administrator for its Civil Litigation Section. The Legal Administrator is the primary supervisor of the Section’s professional staff members, which currently includes four paralegals, and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Section. The Legal Administrator also serves as the Section's primary liaison to the City Attorney's Office Administration and is an important member of the Section's management team, working closely with the Civil Litigation Section Director and Assistant Director(s) in addition to department-wide City leadership.The Civil Litigation Section handles torts and civil rights lawsuits brought against the City and County of Denver, its officials, and employees. The Section manages a heavy caseload, and attorneys in this Section regularly appear in state and federal trial and appellate courts. The Civil Litigation Section also includes the City's civil claims section, which manages most of the claims filed against the City and its employees for personal injury and property damage.This Legal Administrator I position presents a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a leader and manager with litigation experience, who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and constantly changing environment.ResponsibilitiesCoaching, training, and otherwise supervising paralegals and other administrative staff assigned to the Civil Litigation Section.Supporting the Section’s management team by performing a variety of operational functions including operational and financial analysis, reporting and evaluation, information management, computer operations, expenditure control, accounting, purchasing, and procurement and process improvement.Planning, assigning, and evaluating the work of paralegals and other administrative staff members.Developing or modifying work assignments, methods, and procedures to best meet priorities.Assisting with preparation of the Section’s annual budget and monitoring other expenses and case budgets throughout the year.Working directly with the rest of the Section’s management team to ensure consistent communication and collaboration.Supporting and interpreting policies and procedures developed by higher level managers.Resolving problems encountered during daily operations.Performing other related duties, as assigned.What You’ll BringOur ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:Paralegal Certificate or other applicable legal experience.Experience working as a lead or supervisor.Knowledge of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure.Proficiency with large-scale e-Discovery projects and e-Discovery software platforms.Experience with courtroom technology and trial presentation software.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Public service oriented.Team-player.Strong technical capabilities.Required Minimum QualificationsEducation requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science or a related field.Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of experience in a legal office performing administrative functions.Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of appropriate experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.Application DeadlineThis posting will accept applications until 11:59 PM on Sunday, August 25, 2024.About Everything ElseJob ProfileCL3192 Legal Administrator IPosition TypeUnlimitedPosition Salary Range$70,765.00 - $116,762.00Starting Pay$70,765 - $95,000/annually, based on experience and education.AgencyCity Attorney's OfficeThe City and County of Denver provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, genetic information, age, or any other status protected under federal, state, and/or local law.It is your right to access oral or written language assistance, sign language interpretation, real-time captioning via CART, or disability-related accommodations.
