For more information, visit www.ecmcfoundation.org.The Learning and Evaluation Officer is part of a collaborative team of talented individuals who will work to further the Foundation's efforts by providing actionable information that informs decision-making about the Foundation's strategy. This role will participate in strategic discussions that identify goals for prioritized initiatives, and how we can measure progress towards these intended goals. By partnering with Foundation staff, third-party learning partners, and grantees, the individual in this role will have opportunities to turn data into compelling stories, articulating the value of our grantees' efforts, the impact to the Foundation's overarching goals, and learnings for the postsecondary and philanthropic fields.The ECMC Foundation team observes a hybrid work model, working in-office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and working from home on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays with quarterly all staff in-person meetings in Los Angeles. This position will be located in one of our office locations - Minneapolis, MN, Washington D.C. metro area, or Los Angeles, CA. Additionally, Learning and Evaluation Officers travel domestically up to 25% of the time.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the grant and investment making team on initiative development, execution, and assessment.Conduct and/or oversee third-party learning partners to: carry out literature reviews, field scans, and assessments of existing funded projects; articulate the Foundation's goal and theory of action in supporting a body of work; design and execute initiative level evaluations that are centered in equity and focused on systemic change; facilitate conversations with the grant and investment making team to use evaluation findings to shape initiatives' future directions; and present evaluation findings and implications orally and in writing to both internal and external audiences.Design, scope, retain, and manage third-party evaluations with the grants and investment team.Monitor strategically responsive grants and investments to identify themes, lessons learned, and potential opportunities across funded projects in collaboration with the grants and investment team.Develop initiative-level performance measures and make suggestions to improve the type of information we collect from applicants, grantees, and investees.Work in partnership with the grants management team to make refinements to our grants management system.Coordinate and collaborate with ECMC Group and other entities within the group on data collection and analytics.Plan, organize, and facilitate learning sessions for the Foundation team.Support internal organizational evaluation needs (e.g., collecting input from staff via surveys, etc.).Stay abreast of and contribute to effective learning, performance measurement, and evaluation practices in the broader philanthropic and postsecondary fields.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree5+ years work experience in evaluation, preferably in philanthropy and/or postsecondary education.Experience with qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods including use of quantitative (e.g., R, SPSS, STATA, SAS) and qualitative (e.g., Atlas.ti, nVivo) software.Experience communicating to key stakeholders, including strong writing skill that incorporates the use of data visualizations and the ability to make compelling, cogent presentations on complex topics.Experience designing and facilitating learning experiences that are grounded in adult learner best practices.Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to execute and follow through to achieve intended results, by honoring commitments, prioritizing work, and managing time and resources well.Proven ability to leverage strategic and practical thinking, showcasing exceptional analytical skills.Proven experience being flexible to manage ambiguity and evolution as the business requires.Experience being part of a collaborative team; possesses skills in advocating, negotiation, building consensus, etc.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in related field.Experience managing consultants and contracts.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
