Additional details about our total rewards package will be provided during the recruiting process.Selective Insurance is seeking an AVP of Auto Claims with the preferred location being Charlotte, NC. However, we will consider qualified candidates in our Scottsdale, AZ, Indianapolis, IN, Allentown, PA, Hamilton, NJ or Branchville, NJ offices on a hybrid basis (3 days in office).This role will proactively manage auto physical damage, non-litigated auto bodily injury, total loss, and inside appraisal teams in accordance with company claim policies, practices, and procedures within delegated authority. They will be responsible for driving optimum claims outcomes, supporting operational goals and business objectives while delivering superior customer service to our policyholders and agents, all in support of our commitments to our stakeholders. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Plans, controls, and coordinates claims activity and workflow within claims unit/department to maintain the highest professional customer service and technical standards.Leads a team of bodily injury and property damage adjusters who handle low to medium complexity auto claims.Prepares operating budget for unit/department and monitors and controls expenses.Ensures the timely settlement of claims and maintains acceptable closing ratios for the department.Maintains override capability, authorizes settlements up to designated authority limits, and submits recommendations for those claims in excess of authority level.Oversees combined loss ratio and productivity numbers ensuring compliance with company standards.Provides performance management activities for personnel measured against business objectives and claims activity.Conducts claims reviews and settlement conferences.JOB QUALIFICATIONS:College degree preferred.10+ years claims experience.5+ years claims supervisory experience.3-5 years bodily injury and property damage experience.3-5 years complex coverage analysis.Multi-jurisdictional understanding of legal issues.Strong people and management skills.Ability to analyze reports and trend analysis to identify issues.Superior communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.Excellent presentation skills.Moderate proficiency with standard business-related software.The expected starting salary range for this role is $149,000 - $225,000. The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint.Selective is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
