The Property Accounting Manager will use their financial expertise and knack for leadership to ensure the accuracy of general accounting functions and lead a team to provide financial information that drives strategic business decisions. This position will collaborate as a partner with other company managers to analyze financial data, recommend efficiencies and support the implementation of initiatives. The Property Accounting Manager is accountable for fostering professional development and a customer-centric culture.

Property Accounting Manager Responsibilities

Manages property accounting and reporting for an assigned portfolio, including maintenance of the general ledgers, generation of monthly financial statements and supporting work-papers.

Ensures accurate and timely completion and delivery of financial information.

Works with Accounting Directors to oversee recurring processes and actively develop tools for ongoing efficiencies.

Provides effective customer service to internal and external customers in alignment with company policies and procedures.

Liaises between departments to seek solutions and ensure business goals are met.

Prepares monthly analysis of financial results from a market perspective. Provides insight and explanations for variances and trends.

Monitors compliance with company accounting policies and procedures. Identifies opportunities, recommends efficiencies and implements amongst accounting and operations teams.

Proactively catches errors and researches accounting discrepancies. Develops solutions and recommends improvements as necessary.

Escalates reoccurring issues in reporting from property staff to the appropriate corporate management.

Identifies, coordinates and conducts accounting training for operations team members.

Assists with annual financial audits as required.

Develops and effectively leads direct reports. Prioritizes team members’ career development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with a minimum of 3 years of relative experience and 2 years leading a team. CPA license is strongly preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Works well with all levels of management; demonstrated success with leading and motivating team members.

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; attentive to detail.

Prioritizes and makes decisions effectively to meet deadlines.

Flexible, thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable with quickly re-prioritizing.
