As part of a diverse team, the Senior Revenue Accountant is the subject matter expert for revenue accounting and leads several aspects of Blue Origin’s order-to-cash process. This position focuses upon evaluating sophisticated customer contracts for revenue treatment consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Responsibilities include determining revenue treatment for customer contracts under ASC 606, maintaining revenue systems, processing customer billings, and performing month-end revenue related close activities. This position will have direct interaction with Business Unit Finance, Legal, and Operations personnel in support of contract negotiations and performance management post contract award.

Additionally, the Senior Revenue Accountant will work closely with Accounting and Finance leadership to support reporting to monthly reporting requirements and ensure adequate internal controls for compliance with both US GAAP and Government Accounting Standards. The key to success in this role is actively driving process improvements and seeking opportunities for automation.

ResponsibilitiesLead Blue Origin’s revenue recognition process in accordance with GAAP and relevant regulatory standards (e.g., ASC 606, IAS 20, etc.). Liaise with external technical advisors as required.Analyze and recommend revenue recognition treatment methodology for customer contracts.Responsible for end-to-end process of intercompany accounting.Partner with Business Unit Finance, Contracts, Operations, and Tax personnel to evaluate and structure revenue contracts, including multi-element arrangements.Maintain revenue subledger and process customer billings.Perform month-end revenue related journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis.Provide revenue recognition guidance and training to Accounting and Finance departments.QualificationsBachelor’s degree with concentration in accounting or finance.5+ years of revenue accounting experience, including application of ASC 606.Solid understanding of US GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting.Self-starter with bias for action – builder vs. maintainer mentality.Ability to earn trust, build positive relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.BenefitsBenefits include: Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
