Job Summary

Murphy Oil Corporation is seeking a Senior Staff Offshore Completion & Intervention Engineer that will fill an integral role in the Drilling, Completion, and Intervention Team. This role involves leading well planning activities and providing daily engineering support for deepwater completion and intervention operations. This individual will independently design fit-for-purpose completion solutions to achieve well objectives safely and cost-effectively. Key responsibilities include detailed procedure writing, performing risk assessments, peer reviews, working with procurement teams, applying best practices / lessons learned, performing after action reviews, assisting in problem solving / troubleshooting during completion / intervention operations, and working within our regulatory framework on permitting.

The Senior Staff Offshore Completion and Intervention Engineer will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.

Responsibilities

Champion environmental, safety, and regulatory objectives for all operationsPrepare time and cost estimates (budget, Long Range Planning, AFEs, etc.)Work with third party firm on independent Completion design stress analysisBe able to design / install lower (sand faced completions) and upper completions (non-smart or smart completions, surveillance equipment, subsurface control, etc.)Design and execute interventions with a rig or intervention vessels (including thru-tubing, remedial work, etc.)Generate detailed procedures for entire completion or intervention operationsOptimize completion / workover procedures to achieve team and well objectivesPerform risk assessments for operations, rigs, or any deviations from standard practices / equipment, etc.Supervise completion / intervention operations and support the onsite vessel teamSupport internal multi-disciplinary teams to achieve objectivesBe able to work in both corporate and field environmentsConduct multi-discipline peer reviews, HAZOPS, CWOPS, Risk assessments, etc.Evaluate real-time data (as required)Work with Procurement Team to develop bid packages and evaluate options for vendors / rigs / intervention vesselsReview and apply completion or intervention best practices / lessons learned for all operationsPerform lookbacks and after-action reviews for all operations to help improve on operations / cost efficiencies from project to projectAssist Murphy internal teams in problem solving wells to derive solutions and achieve objectivesOffshore / shop visits to supervise activities (as required)

Licenses/ CertificationsWilling to attend and be able to pass HUET (Helicopter Underwater Egress Training)Well Control Certification, preferred

Qualifications/RequirementsBachelor's degree in engineeringMinimum 15 years engineering experience in oil and gas industryMinimum 10 years of deepwater completions and intervention experienceStrong commitment towards HSEKnowledge of BSEE/BOEM regulations relevant to operationsSolid knowledge and practical experience in the Deepwater Completions / Interventions disciplineAbility to perform all job responsibilities with limited supervisionAbility to work in a team and positively influence other team membersStrong communication, teamwork, self-initiative, and problem-solving skillsAbility to adapt to changes and new challengesPrepared to work in a fast-paced work environment with an emphasis on timely delivery, cost conscious operations, interactive work style, and sound execution

The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/ extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
