Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.ELECTRICAL CAD DESIGNER (STARLINK)The Starlink Hardware Test Team develops test solutions for the most cutting-edge, high volume communication satellites and ground stations in the world! We are looking for a CAD Designer to design and support the production of electrical/electronic equipment for test systems that quickly and thoroughly validate that each component of hardware on our products will survive deployment and functionality in use, whether in orbit or on earth. Our designers are endlessly curious, love to learn and try out new things, and work collaboratively across disciplines in a dynamic environment with changing needs as we strive to deliver high-impact technology on a global scale.RESPONSIBILITIES:Interpret electrical system design requirements and build original layouts, iterative assembly and detail drawings, schematics and illustrationsSelect components from SpaceX preferred manufacturers/components, and prepare design detail drawings and schematics for electrical equipment using EPLANManage librariesEnsure compliance with UL508a and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements, and dimension and tolerance practices per ANSI Y14.5Deliver production assembly drawings, detail drawings, bills of material, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment listsReview, analyze, and integrate the technical requirements, technical accuracy, and design approach in conjunction with team engineersCraft electro-mechanical packaging of industrial control panels and enclosures based on high-level concepts from engineersPresent and review designs with test and design engineers and attend meetings as neededPrepare and release fully developed drawings into internal data management systemsParticipate in reviewing engineering drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and other subject areas, for consistency to drafting standardsDesign multi-layer PCB assemblies based on engineering schematicsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Experience in developing electrical equipment assemblies, schematics, one-line diagrams, and equipment schedulesBachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science or Engineering Design & Technology or 10+ years of applicable professional experience with Associate degree in Electronics, Computer Science or Engineering Design & TechnologyExperience using CADPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Advanced CAD skills using EPLANKnowledge of electrical and mechanical design standards and codes, including UL508a, NEC, and ANSI Y14.5At least 2 years of experience with design of control systems for electromechanical systems and/or electrical/server racksWell-adapted in model and drawing revision controlBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and ExcelAble to prioritize multiple tasks and deliver work in a timely mannerWorks well on a teamStrong communication skillsExperience in the design and/or production of electrical harnessingSophisticated knowledge of electrical equipment design and components such as: power supplies, relays, contactors, connectors, PLCs, motor drives, control switches/buttons, enclosures, terminal blocks, wire sizingFamiliarity with industrial operational technology networking equipment and structured cabling designPrevious experience/background in the testing/production of aerospace equipment/systemsBackground in RF equipment, design and/or testingFormal training/advanced skills in Eplan, Siemens Nx, AutoCAD, Altium DesignerStrong 3D CAD skills for designing fabricated parts and assisting in building equipment layoutsField experience with control system wiring, startup, and testingProficiency in using Microsoft VisioKnowledge of single and multi-layer Printed Circuit Boards, their related schematics, assemblies, and fabricationAbility to design multi-layer PCB assemblies based on engineering schematicsAbility to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirementsADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be available to work long hours and weekends as neededMust be willing to travelCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay range:

Designing - CAD Engineer/Level I: $100,000 - $135,000/year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
