Position Summary:

The Director of Law Development is responsible for managing the School of Law’s alumni relations and donor recognition program, support annual and alumni giving, assisting the Assistant Dean of Advancement for School of Law with appeals, sponsorships, researching donors and advancement opportunities, and assisting with School of Law Alumni Association’s functions and assist with alumni communications.

The individual in this position is expected to embrace key values of the university’s and law school’s advancement program – passion for OCU Law School, partnership with donors, and a people-centered approach demonstrating support for them through professional interactions and activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of three years’ professional experience, preferably in fundraising, alumni or constituent relations, event planning, marketing, promotions, or related fields.

A suitable combination of education and experience may be substituted for minimum requirements.

Job Duties:

Demonstrates an attitude and behavior that reflects the values and mission of the Law School and the university. Law Alumni Engagement • Assist with managing and supporting the Law School Alumni Association Board. • Coordinates with Law Advancement/External Relations functions and University Advancement to assist in planning special events other projects that will engender a positive feeling about the law school among alumni. • Provides information and support for Alumni Association Board meetings and helps manage the work of Alumni Association committees. Works to ensure all committees are achieving their goals, provides communication on meetings. Alumni and Donor Communications • Prepare print and email communications and other promotional pieces. • Designs, orders and manages promotional items for the department and school for events and speakers. • Assists in marketing, social media and web content relating to alumni and donors Fundraising Stewardship Support • Assists the Assistant Dean for Advancement in planning stewardship events for students to thank donors • Assists the Assistant Dean for Advancement in preparing documentation for Executive Board meetings, records and prepares minutes. • Assists the Assistant Dean for Advancement in completing planning annual giving appeals • Assists the Assistant Dean for Advancement in managing sponsorship solicitations • Assists the Assistant Dean for Advancement in managing the law school’s portals for giving, alumni association and communication outreach. This includes developing and maintaining webpages, creating content and distribution of information, and overseeing the law school’s online alumni database. • Assists the Assistant Dean for Advancement in overseeing annual giving and donor retention Law Advancement Operations • Manages data and performs various specialized computer functions; maintains and updates databases using software including, but not limited to Raiser’s Edge and Banner; updates various computerized files. • Assists in hiring and supervising student employees. Manages work assignments and provides positive coaching and mentoring to student employees in order to provide a professional work experience. - (Essential)

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

1. Work is primarily indoors, but at times may be required to be in an outdoor environment when traveling off campus.2. Will be exposed to frequent noise caused by telephones and office machines.3. Standard office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; occasional work on nights and weekends may be required.4. Off-campus, state and regional travel may be required.
