national Bridge Inspection and Preservation Group

is hiring for a

Bridge Inspection Engineer

to support transportation related projects in multiple markets. An optimal candidate will have experience with bridge inspection and bridge load rating practices, as well as bridge design experience. In this role, you will perform tasks and procedures necessary to plan and execute bridge and tunnel inspection work orders and stand-alone projects. You will also perform structural analyses and develop calculations using the AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation and other codes for structural load ratings. Additionally, a successful candidate will have knowledge of bridge design procedures and AASHTO LRFD and Standard Specifications. Typical projects will include bridge and tunnel inspections for reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete, steel, and timber structures, as well as load ratings for bridges of all types and sizes. Potential office locations for this position are Portland and Salem, OR; Bellevue, Olympia, Seattle, Spokane, and Tacoma, WA; Denver, CO; Boise, ID; and Salt Lake City, UT.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:Organizing information for use in project documentsAssisting or leading bridge projects by creating inspection reports, load rating summaries, concept reports, and Type, Size and Location reportsPerforming condition inspections of existing bridges and tunnelsGenerating and editing bridge inspection reportsAssisting or leading the development of engineering calculations utilizing spreadsheets and various analysis and design software packagesAssisting or leading the development of engineering drawing detailsDeveloping engineering quantity and cost estimatesAssisting or leading with the development of project specificationsReviewing contractor submittals during constructionAssisting or leading bridge rehabilitation and maintenance projects

Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural EngineeringMinimum 5 years of applicable bridge inspection, load rating, and/or design experienceLicensed Professional Engineer (PE)Successful completion of NHI 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service bridges, or NHI-approved equivalentProficiency in current bridge inspection and management softwareExperience with current bridge load rating or analysis software platformsKnowledgeable in other current structural design software applications, with an emphasis on bridge design software, such as SAP2000, Midas Civil, LARSA 4D, PG Super, Conspan and/or LPileExperience with MathCADProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a heavy emphasis on Excel and WordKnowledgeable in drafting software application such as Microstation, AutoCAD and Civil 3DPhysically able to work outside in a variety of weather conditionsAbility to communicate and work in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Civil/Structural EngineeringKnowledge of representative state DOT bridge inspection and load rating standards and guidelinesSuccessful completion of NHI 130078 Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel BridgesActive certification as a Rope Access Technician through SPRAT (Society for Professional Rope Access Technicians)
