This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for an

Executive Director of Transit and Rail Business Line.

The candidate can sit out of any mutually WSP USA office - preferably Washington, DC/ New York, NY/ Boston, MA/ Chicago, IL. This individual will be responsible for strategic planning, business development, project management, and team leadership to deliver high-quality transit and rail solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the transit and rail industry, a strong network of industry contacts, and a proven track record of successful project delivery.Your ImpactDuties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

Develop and implement the business line strategy in alignment with the company’s overall goals and objectives.Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the transit and rail sectors.Monitor industry trends and market conditions to stay ahead of the competition.

Business Development

Build and maintain relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and industry partners.Lead proposal development, presentations, and negotiations to secure new projects.Represent the company at industry conferences, events, and meetings.

Project Management

Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of transit and rail projects.Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.Manage project teams, including internal staff and external consultants.

Team Leadership

Mentor, develop, and manage a team of professionals in the transit and rail business line.Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.Promote professional development and continuous learning within the team.

Financial Management

Develop and manage the business line’s budget and financial performance.Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics.Ensure financial targets and profitability are achieved.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines.Implement and maintain quality assurance processes and procedures.Address any issues or challenges that arise during project execution.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.Who You AreRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field.Minimum 20+ years of related transit/rail experience, including 10+ years of experience in leadership, project management, client services management, or business development activities for large-scale transportation clients and/or projects.Experience in client prepositioning activities, team (internal and external partners) and proposal development, and execution of selection interviews.Track record of managing and growing a technical/engineering staff and promoting a Transit/Rail Center of Excellence.Strong business acumen and financial management skills.Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.Ability to travel as needed for client meetings, site visits, and industry events.Preferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer certificationMasters in Engineering.Proven leader in developing and nurturing relationships with key clients.A recognized leader in professional organizations.WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
