Position Summary

The Manager of Information Technology (IT) at the Des Moines Art Center is responsible for overseeing the organization's entire IT infrastructure and operations. This includes managing/supervising the IT/Database Specialist, defining and implementing IT strategies, and ensuring the efficient and secure operation of all technology systems and services. The Manager of IT will interact closely with other departments to understand their technological needs and develop innovative solutions to support business objectives. Additionally, the Manager of IT will stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the organization's IT environment.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Senior Director of Finance and Operations and has frequent contact with peers across the organization.

Strategic Planning

Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.Identify opportunities for technological improvements and cost savings.Leadership

Lead and mentor IT-Database Specialist, including hiring, training and performance management.Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the IT department.IT Operations Management

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT department, including hardware, software, networks, and systems administration.Ensure IT systems and infrastructure availability, performance, and security.Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the IT department.Implement best practices and standards to optimize IT operations.Maintain accurate records and documentation of IT systems, activities, and procedures.Generate regular reports for management on IT performance, projects, and initiatives.Budget Management

Plan and manage the IT and Database budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.Procure necessary hardware, software, and services within budgetary constraints.Security and Compliance

Ensure the security of IT systems, networks, and data and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.Develop and enforce IT security policies and procedures.Technology Evaluation and Implementation

Assess new technologies and tools and recommend upgrades or enhancements as needed.Oversee the implementation of new IT systems and solutions.Troubleshooting and Support

Provide top-tier technical support to users, troubleshoot IT issues, and ensure timely resolution of problemsPerform installation of new equipment, as well as performing corrective and preventive measures on existing equipment.Vendor Management

Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts and ensuring service level agreements are met.Approve IT and Database vendor invoices for paymentEvaluate vendor performance and make recommendations for improvements or changes.Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery

Develop and maintain plans for disaster recovery and business continuity, ensuring IT systems can be quickly restored in the event of a disruption.Conduct regular tests and drills to validate the effectiveness of these plans.Stakeholder Communication

Communicate IT-related updates, initiatives, and issues to organizational stakeholders, including senior management.Collaborate with other departments to understand their IT needs and requirements.Other Responsibilities

Act in ways that reflect favorably on the Art Center and maintain professional standards in the quality of performance and demonstration of concern for the Art Center's collection, programs, and facilities.Adhere to Des Moines Art Center Code of Ethics, Employee Handbook, and other organizational policies.Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience in a related field, as well as two (2) to three (3) years experience as a People Manager.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal and customer service skillsStrong technical knowledge of IT systems, networks, and infrastructure, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related softwareKnowledge of applicable data privacy practices and lawsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, managers, and personnel from various departments within the organization.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Required Education, Experience and/or Certification

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field

Decision Making

This position must be able to work independently and make decisions in the organization's best interest regarding Information Technology management and security.

Special Considerations (Work Environment, Schedule, Required Travel, etc.)

This position requires the use of a personal cell phone, for which the Art Center will reimburse with an allowance per pay period.Occasional weekend and after-hours support required. Attend industry and vendor conferences/summits and user- group meetings.This position offers a hybrid work schedule, working both in the office and remotely

Windows PCs, ticket scanners, tablets (Microsoft and Apple), and EMV card readers
