Job Responsibilities

  • Compensation (Range): / hour: Salary: 40-43 HR
  • This team focus' on managing suppliers. Providing oversight for suppliers that produce bumpers, grills, lamps, and facias. This also includes wheel liners, front and rear closure hardware (struts, liftgates, hinges, bumpers, etc.)
  • The main function of a supplier quality engineer is to serve as the technical liaison between purchasing, product engineering, internal manufacturing, and external suppliers. A typical supplier quality engineer is responsible for resolving supplier manufacturing issues, implementing advanced quality planning systems, and providing technical support throughout the lifecycle of a particular commodity.
  • Assure supplier understanding and compliance with APQP processes and product PPAP submission and approval requirements
  • Review and approve supplier quality plans for new component parts and assemblies for new vehicle and or powertrain programs.
  • Review supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems.
  • Implement and monitor supplier part qualification and certification processes.
  • Determine root cause of supplier manufacturing problems and implementing timely, effective, and efficient quality resolutions.
  • Improve quality performance of suppliers by conducting onsite workshops at supplier locations, providing technical assistance in developing a robust quality system, or other technical support as required.
  • Provide technical assistance during supplier launch, change-over and ongoing production activities.

Job Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of automotive interior, exterior, body, chassis, electrical or powertrain quality, manufacturing and engineering functions.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Manufacturing Quality processes.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing and Tool Engineering processes.
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems Planning (APQP), including PPAP.
  • Ability to perform statistical problem solving (Red X, DFSS, DMAIC).
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field required.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Engineering preferred.
  • Technical and Quality Certifications preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience required.
  • Experience with Injection Molding parts is a must or injection molding in general.
  • Painting - a plus if they have this
