Job Summary -
Ideally located in the US, but Europe also an optionThe Executive Director, Search & Evaluation will play a critical role at Zai Lab, focusing on Neuroscience, Auto-Immune Diseases, and Anti-Infectives. This role will work in partnership with a collaborative team across our Research, Development, Commercial, and BD organizations to identify and secure access to breakthrough innovations emerging from academic and research institutes, early-stage biotech, and pharmaceutical companies.Responsibilities
Develop a deep understanding of Zai Lab’s pipeline, portfolio, technology, and capabilities.Proactively search, identify, and evaluate potential partnering opportunities aligned with Zai Lab’s R&D and business development objectives.Lead scientific and technical diligence of potential partnering opportunities and establish strategic rationale for potential deals.Prepare and present opportunity proposals to Senior Leadership and the Board for feedback and approval.Identify potential partners, prepare capability/pitch decks, and coordinate due diligence efforts.Support negotiation of term sheets and review contracts.Monitor the competitive landscape and medical/scientific environment.Maintain a Tracking Log/Database with all opportunities reviewed.Represent Zai Lab at therapeutic and/or bio-partnering conferences.Qualifications
REQUIREDPhD with 12 years relevant experience, including 5 years in tech transfer, venture capital, life sciences consulting, or biopharmaceutical research or business development; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.PREFERREDExperience in Auto-Immune diseases.Ability to translate scientific and technical information into clear summaries for senior audiences.Understanding of the pharmaceutical drug discovery and development process.Strong networking skills to engage with industry decision-makers.Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.Capability to prioritize multiple projects and exercise thoughtful judgment.Strong relationship-building skills.Ideally located in the US, but Europe also an option.
