The Associate Director Tax has mastered the skills and requirements of the Tax Manager role and has been identified as having the potential to develop the requisite skills to grow into a future Director. Accordingly, the Associate Tax Director is developing greater leadership skills and is continuously taking on greater responsibilities. The position is building the capacity to assist Directors in assuming overall responsibilities in a variety of areas, including but not limited to engagement management and client service, sales, practice development, marketing cross-selling, discipline and industry expertise, external activities & networking, leadership, people development, internal process improvement and strategic business planning to effectively achieve Firm goals and implement industry best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other related degree as approved is required.
150 hours of college credit is required.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred not required.
Minimum 8-12 years of relevant position experience is required.
Minimum 3 years or management or supervisory experience is required.
Significant experience in a public accounting or professional services environment is preferred.
Knowledge of Internal Revenue Code is required.
Exhibits strong analytical ability, critical thinking capacity, and diligently performs assigned tasks with the highest degree of professionalism and integrity.
Must have the capability to professionally, appropriately and effectively communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
Must demonstrate the ability to lead, build, and manage diverse teams for small, medium, and large-scale projects.
Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism including the ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, innovative, and continuously changing environment.
Must have excellent communication skills in business and technical environments.
Must demonstrate technical proficiency and the capability of performing at an intermediate or advanced level within the Microsoft Office Suite of products with an emphasis in Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills, or similar software applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Exhibits the technical knowledge and ability to manage and oversee field work on assigned engagements in an organized and efficient manner including, but not limited to oversight and review of engagement scheduling, engagement planning, timeline monitoring, budget monitoring, timely review of work papers, timely closing of engagement binder, timely completion of staff evaluations and other such matters and other similar items.
Provides professional tax services to assigned clients.
Meets with assigned business clients and individual tax clients for tax planning.
Assists clients in complying with federal, state and local tax requirements while monitoring filing deadlines.
Demonstrates appropriate leadership skills including, but not limited to, effective and timely engagement oversight, timely and accurate communicating with seniors and staff as well as Associate Directors and Directors, timely and accurate identification of technical issues, timely and appropriate identification of any staff issues and/or concerns, timely client communications regarding open items and other similar items.
Supervises staff with respect to tax assignments and keeps them advised of tax developments.
Monitors workload on a weekly basis to ensure work for the coming week.
Reviews tax returns upon completion.
Provides specific guidelines for special tax engagement such as employee benefit plans, incorporation, trusts, etc.
Represents clients before tax authorities.
Research tax questions raised by clients and staff.
Monitors progress of engagements in relation to budgets and due dates.
Monitors billing and collection procedures for assigned clients.
Supervises training for staff members. Mentors and develops staff.
Participates in the recruitment and retention of professional staff.
Looks for opportunities to expand services to existing clients. Actively participates in the practice development process.
Monitors billable hours and compares to target billable hour goals on a regular basis.
Provides support for firm initiatives and participates in firm related events.
Maintains a positive attitude and is receptive to constructive feedback.
Complies with the professional and Firm requirements (e.g., employee handbook requirements, time entry procedures, audit quality control document requirements, etc.) including complying with confidentiality requirements (e.g., client information, proposal information, personnel information, job-related information, etc.).
Actively attends and engages in meetings and training sessions.
Maintains the required CPE for firm and licensing standards.
Other Duties:
Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external parties. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional and cooperative manner.
Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, and work processes. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
May assist co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service and demonstrating team work skills. Actively supports teamwork throughout the organization.
Perform other services as assigned.
Other Considerations:
May periodically travel and work from different company locations.
May be required to work overtime, and/or on weekends as needed.
Must arrive at EisnerAmper offices or client locations in a timely manner and be ready to perform job responsibilities.
