Clark College is currently seeking to fill a part-time temporary faculty counselor position at the Counseling and Health Center lasting for six months from January to June 2023. This position will be 80% time and average 32 hours per week during the quarter with some flexibility of in-person and virtual work. Counselors are often 50% in-person and 50% virtual. Candidates must be available to work weekdays during winter and spring academic terms.

Faculty counselors provide individual and group mental health counseling to Clark College students, as well as outreach and education to the campus community. This position will work closely with our Counseling and Health Center team including medical staff, front office staff, and licensed mental health providers, as well as campus and community supports to coordinate care. The person in this position will be working with a diverse student population, and we value experience or passion working with non-dominant students such as students of color, students with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ students.

Position Responsibilities:Provide short-term individual and group mental health counseling to Clark students.Identify impediments to learning and college success, and develop strategies with students to increase supports and overcome challenges.Provide information and referrals to students for on and off-campus resources.Maintain appropriate documentation and protect confidentiality of student records consistent with FERPA, HIPAA, and WA state law.Facilitate or co-facilitate workshops and trainings for staff, faculty, and students on mental health and wellness topics.Work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.Understand and commit to the mission of Clark College.Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Master's Degree or higher from an accredited institution in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.Licensed as a mental health clinician in WA state (or able to obtain a temporary license during the period of employment). We also welcome applications from Registered Associates actively working towards licensure in WA or OR state. Clinical supervision will be provided for Associates (LMFT, LPC, LMHC only).Experience in providing mental health services to adolescents and adults from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.Ability to provide competent, culturally aware, and affirming mental health care to those who identify as BI-POC, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and people with disabilities.Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.Vaccination requirement:

Per Washington State Proclamation 21-14.1: college employees must be fully vaccinated. Your COVID-19 vaccine status must be validated by the Human Resources office prior to the commencement of work. Requesting a disability or religious exemption would be done through the Human Resources office.

SALARY STATEMENT:

$4,529.87 per month (Step A at 80%), based on an annual full-time salary of $67,948. This appointment is approximately 32 hours per week for six months.

This is a non-benefited position.
