Western Region PV & BESS Operations Manager

to oversee the efficient functioning and maintenance of Ameresco owned Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in PV and energy storage technologies, operations management, and bring a proactive approach to ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. This position will report to Director - Operations & Maintenance - Federal West.Responsibilities:Manage day-to-day operations and personnel, ensuring smooth functioning, monitoring, and maintenance. Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure a high level of performance and adherence to safety protocols.Coordinate and schedule regular maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs to ensure system reliability and longevity.Work with Field Supervisors and Technicians to address operational issues promptly, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to resolve problems.Prepare cost estimates and proposals.Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to procure necessary equipment, parts, and services required for maintenance and operations.Implement manufacturer's DAS systems (training, installation, API).Develop strategies to optimize PV and energy storage performance, maximize efficiency, and minimize downtime.Provide detailed generation reports to production off takers (utility) and internal personnel for billing.Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to operations, maintenance, and performance metrics. Analyze metrics to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and technological advancements to enhance overall system efficiency and effectiveness.Establish and foster safe work practices per industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements pertaining to PV and energy storage operations.Perform other duties as required.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Energy Management, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.Minimum of 7 years of experience in power generation operations & maintenance management.Ability to review confidential US security information.Additional Qualifications:Advanced degree in business, finance, data analytics preferred.Extensive knowledge of electric power plant (PV, diesel, BESS, microgrid, MV, gas and steam turbine, etc.) operations and maintenance, technologies, control systems (SCADA and data acquisition systems), utility markets and relevant industry standards.Demonstrated strong leadership skills, including effective coaching, mentoring, supervisory, decision-making skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to handling operational issues.Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Proficiency in MS Office and CMMS Software.Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques for performance evaluation, diagnosis and reporting.Detailed knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and other environmental laws and regulations affecting plant operations and maintenance in the energy sector.Flexibility to work extended or "on-call" hours to support ongoing operations and maintenance activities.
