POSITION SUMMARYAt Donor Network West (DNW), our mission is to save and heal lives through organ and tissue donation for transplantation and research. We are actively seeking an Organ Allocation Coordinator Assistant dedicated to supporting this mission. This crucial role involves maintaining a commitment to our core values of passion, excellence, diversity, equity, and inclusion, while also assisting the Organ Allocation team in ensuring continuous patient safety assessment and improvement for donation and transplantation.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESReporting of Intra-Operative and Post-Procurement Test Results and Discovery of Potential Disease Transmissions:Accurately and promptly report intra-operative and post-procurement test results.Obtain QuantiFERON TB test results.External Match swap.Organ outcome dispositions.Obtain and report final biopsy.Any additional tasks from the case (i.e., culture follow-up, etc.).Strongyloides testing when results are available after OR.Positive ID results (RPR/HIV/HBV/HCV, etc.) and reporting on the portal.Bypass codes if reason for bypass is provided.HLA attachments and verification for cases.Follow up and report potential disease transmissions.Ensure the timely and accurate completion of data submission in Donor Network West’s EMR and OPTN’s required data submissions.Submit quality events to Donor Network West internal portal, including potential disease transmission incidents and inquiries from transplant centers and processors.Collaborate with internal and external partners to facilitate the exchange of information related to deceased donors.Assist in data collection analysis and documentation trends related to patient safety and organ transplant.Assist in generating monthly reports on quality events.Conduct follow-up calls related to kidney transplantation.Update transplant surgeon schedules on the portal when received.Provide precise source documentation to various DNW departments upon request.QUALIFICATIONSStrong communication skills as they will be responsible for effective communication via phone with transplant surgeons and donor hospitals.Attention to detail is required due to the nature of the role.Strong interpersonal skills and respectful communication with internal and external partners.Ability to convey a sense of urgency as needed and persist in the face of obstacles.Ability to read and interpret documents to obtain needed information and understand when results require escalation.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree or two years of experience in an Organ Procurement Organization in a related organ donation role. Relevant certification with experience in health care may be substituted.Customer relations experience.Minimum two years’ work experience in a related field or two years of health care experience.Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.Knowledge and understanding of electronic health records & Microsoft Office applications will be necessary.
