At McKenney's, our co-ops and interns are an integral part of the success of our projects and the company, and we rely on and encourage their fresh ideas.WHY CO-OP WITH USThe Logistics & Supply Chain Co-op is a three term, rotating semester position designed to increase the candidate's learning of the end-to-end supply chain (Logistics, Planning, Manufacturing, Sourcing, etc.).A typical day can range from negotiating contracts with subcontractors, researching supply chain alternatives, optimizing manufacturing layouts, and performing data analytics to analyze trends. Experienced, successful Co-ops will have the opportunity to manage a new process improvement project from idea generation to final implementation under the guidance of the Purchasing Manager.WHAT IS THE CRITERIA FOR A MCKENNEY'S COOPCandidates must be able to complete a

minimum of 2 full-time , alternating co-op rotations in the office they are being hired for before their graduation.

Three rotations are preferred . Students must be enrolled in a co-op program at an accredited school majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, MET, Construction Management, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management.RESPONSIBILITIESManage process improvement projects including process mapping, standardization, and automationDevelop and implement optimizations for logistics team processesNegotiate purchase order contract terms with the support of the subcontracts teamResearch vendor alternatives and develop unique solutions to resolving supply chain issuesExecute data analysis projects, including analyzing vendor spend, auditing vendor performance, and identifying opportunities for savings on projectsGain exposure to Excel Power Query, Smartsheet, and TableauCoordinate with external vendors to solicit material quotes for various jobs and the shopsReview shop inventory levels, visualize upcoming project needs, and manage pricingWork with manufacturing leadership to understand current processes and identify and minimize waste by applying LEAN principlesParticipate in job site walks to gather performance feedbackContribute to the fleet and vehicle receiving process by analyzing mechanisms to increase efficiencyPresent on a semester-long research project on the topic of their choice for other co-opsGain exposure to the construction industry, manufacturing, and logistics through cross-departmental learning opportunities, site walks, and projectsLead project teams and company initiatives, such as the Logistics Idea Improvement Committee, in their 2nd and 3rd semester based on their performanceWork with the Quality Co-op on cross-department projectsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND CHARACTERISTICSAbility to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goalsExcellent problem-solving abilityAttention to detail while completing multiple or repetitive tasks with a high sense of urgencyTake on additional responsibilities as needed while managing prioritiesMust be a self-starter with ability to work well independently and as part of a teamMaintain a strong attention to detail and organizationAbility to effectively communicate across a diverse group of people (PMs, drafting, field staff, fabrication shops, etc.)WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTSWork is normally performed in an office environment. Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises when visiting jobsites or manufacturing facilities. Work environment involves some exposure to construction-related hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.Light physical effort. Requires handling average-weight objects up to 25 pounds and some standing or walking.
