Job Description:
The primary function of this position is to provide leadership and oversight for university accommodations and services for students with disabilities.
Essential Responsibilities:
Direct University accessibility program and serve as primary University resource for disability training/education including support of Universal Design strategies
Create and update accessibility policies and procedures
Provide supervision for the Assistant Director of Accessibility Resources and paraprofessional student staff members
Review and interpret psycho-education assessments and other disability documentation; verify eligibility for support services and determine appropriate accommodations
Communicate and collaborate with university faculty and staff in coordinating appropriate accommodations
Advise students with disabilities regarding their rights and responsibilities under the Rehabilitation Act and Americans with Disabilities Act; provide ongoing consultations to students to address transition and/or academic needs
Provide in-service training and information to faculty and campus community members on various disability and/or accommodation topics
Chair the Disability Advisory Committee
Serve on the President's Advisory Board on Equity and Inclusion
Serve as advisor for Students Beyond Barriers (registered student organization)
Serve on University Care Team
Collect and analyze data to improve access
Conduct campus accessibility audits as needed; consult with facilities management personnel regarding access, design and construction issues
Serve as ADA resource/consultant for campus offices; represent Bellarmine at community events and other meetings in the region related to disability issues
Oversee Accessibility Resource Center budget including grants
Assist with university admission and orientation events including high school fairs and information sessions
Assist with other Student Affairs programs/events as needed
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, higher education, public health, rehabilitation, or related field
Two or more years professional experience working with individuals with disabilities
Experience and passion for working with culturally diverse populations
Knowledge and experience with applicable laws and policies including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act strongly preferred
