General Description:
Responsible for creating financial deliverables for smaller clients with less complex benefit programs.Responsibilities:Responsible for financial analytics for fully insured clients. Some clients may be level funded. Typical client size is 100 to 250 lives.Prepare standard analyses on programs with limited levels of complexity. Analyses may include:Financial and contractual analysisMarket review analysisRenewal rate and funding projections and modelingAnalysis of claims utilizationDevelop alternative strategies, plan modeling, and cost reduction opportunities.Perform technical analysis of group insurance contracts and financial arrangements.Assist in negotiation of rates and benefit features with insurance carriers.Develop and maintain excellent carrier relationships.Review carrier renewal rating illustrations with Analytical Team Lead or mentor.With guidance, analyze experience claims utilization data for financial performance conclusions.With guidance write Executive Summaries providing observations and findings. Prepare carrier and client written correspondence. Includes carrier renewal confirmation letters and client renewal letters.With guidance, use analytic tools.Keep current on industry information, technology, and trends.Participate in the peer review process as a participant. Receives assistance and guidance from Benefit Analyst team mentors.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:6 months + experience in employee benefits or related field preferred.High School Graduate. College degree preferred.Must hold or be willing to obtain a state Life & Disability insurance license.Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal instruction.Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Comfortable with internet-based programs and Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word.Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.Eager to learn new concepts and further professional development.Open to feedback and coaching.
