Job DescriptionThe Immigration Center for Women and Children (ICWC) seeks a full-time legal assistant to work with attorneys, DOJ Accredited Representatives, and other legal assistants in our Los Angeles office. Legal assistants work on humanitarian-based immigration cases for survivors of crime and their families. Dependent upon job performance and the completion of necessary coursework, this role may grow into a Partially Accredited DOJ Representative position.About ICWC:

Assist attorneys with client appointments, completing legal forms, drafting legal documents, gathering evidence and preparing cases for filing.Write client declarations and translate documents from Spanish to English.Perform administrative duties, which may include maintaining records and filing systems, filing documents with USCIS and in court, answering phone calls, and managing calendars.Case management support to assist clients in accessing community resources.Upon pursuit of DOJ accreditation, conduct legal screenings and intake with clients, gather relevant facts and documentation, prepare cases for filings, and manage a caseload of U Visa and/or related cases under the supervision of an attorney.Qualifications

Four-year college bachelor’s degree preferred.Fluency in both Spanish and English required.Immigration legal experience preferred.Additional Qualifications
