What we do isn’t easy but you don’t take the easy path.Apple’s Platform Architecture group defines high-performance power-efficient CPUs that power Apple Silicon. We are looking for an experienced CPU architect and technical leader for exploration and modeling of sophisticated CPU features, to lead and drive advanced development research that will enable our future CPU roadmap.Description- Collaborate with the CPU micro-architecture and RTL team to find opportunities for product improvement and exploration- Analyze existing and emerging workloads to identify performance bottlenecks and opportunities- Work with cross-functional groups to identify CPU exploration areas of long-term strategic value to Apple- Work with other CPU leads to identify and evaluate potential architectural and ISA changes for targeted areas- Perform self-guided performance simulation studies of design alternatives while also providing guidance and direction to others on the architecture and modeling team- Work with RTL and design team to assess implementation cost for new features- Collaborate with performance team to maintain and improve the simulation environment for increased efficiency and productivityMinimum QualificationsKey QualificationsExtensive experience in CPU architecture, design, or performance modelingStrong technical leadership and collaboration skillsStrong CPU architecture knowledge, micro-architecture knowledge, and an understanding of competing architecturesExperience working in a performance modeling environmentProficient in C and C++Proficient in scripting languages such as Perl, Python and RubyAbility to tackle problems and prove your own ideasKnowledge and experience with common performance benchmarks and workloadsKnowledge of OS internals and compiler technology a plusPreferred Qualifications

Education & ExperienceB.S. and a minimum of 20 years relevant industry experience.Additional RequirementsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $207,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
