We are hiring for multiple teams across the Mobility and Delivery Product Engineering organization. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will drive the implementation of a variety of products and systematic improvements while working closely with cross-functional teams and other senior engineers. You'll work closely with product, operations, data science, and engineering teams throughout the company. You will make an impact in the real world using exciting and new technology.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field with at least 3 years of full-time Software Engineering work experience OR PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field with at least 1 year of full-time Software Engineering work experienceProficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, or Go3 years of experience with backend development, building and delivering end-user products.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related fieldMore than 5 years of full-time Software Engineering work experienceProven experience building highly available distributed systems (at Uber scale) and working across multiple backend servicesExperience working on scalable backend systems utilizing a microservices architectureHigh bar for quality as demonstrated by code reviews, documentation, unit and integration testingExperience with optimization techniques and algorithmic developmentStrong problem-solving skills, with expertise in algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysisWhat You'll Do:Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable software solutionsCollaborate with product managers, cross-engineering teams, data scientists and other partners to gather requirements and translate them into technical specificationsIdentify opportunities and lead the entire development lifecycle end-to-end, from architecture design and coding to deploymentParticipate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior engineers to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvementParticipate in periodic on-call rotations and be available for critical issuesMentor and guide other engineers, providing technical leadership and encouraging a collaborative and growth-oriented team environmentBuild and maintain scalable backend services and infrastructureStay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on our software systems and recommending appropriate integrations or improvementsCompensation:For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year. For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of compensation. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
