FINISHING (GLUER) OPERATOR
Our Staunton, VA facility is looking for a Finishing Operator to support our Finishing Department. This position is responsible for set up and maintaining folder/gluer equipment and processes to produce folding cartons.
Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:
Set up and maintain the folder/gluer to produce folding cartons
Locate and load proper stock in preparation for operation
Prepares make-ready feeder, prefold, glue system, final fold, delivery, pack station and inspection system
Operates folder/gluer in accordance with customer specifications and current standard operating procedures
Ensures total quality of the job while in operation
Maintains the machine and area in accordance with the standard operation procedures
Demonstrates competency in all basic folds: straight-line, lock-bottom, inner partition, etc.
Complete all job logs as required
Performs other job duties as assigned
Follow all company safety requirements
Comply with all company rules and regulations
An individual in this position must be able to learn and demonstrate the following skills;
Ability to read and follow instructions
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations
Ability to troubleshoot and solve gluer problems
Mechanical aptitude
Essential Job Functions include the following:
Physical Requirements:
Occasionally (1-10% of the time) lift up to10 pounds
Frequently (11-33% of the time) lift up to 50 pounds
Frequently (34-66% of the time) standing and walking
Occasionally (1-33% of the time) bending, squatting, reaching above the shoulder, stretching, twisting, pushing, pulling, carrying, walking, kneeling, stooping, and fingering
Push/Pull force of 50 pounds
Frequently (34-66% of the time) reach at waist or lower and grasp
Continuously (67% of the time) standing
Not at all (0% of the time) sitting or crawling
Must be able to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which includes; safety glasses, steel toed-shoes, ear plugs and cut resistant gloves. Per our quality standards, you must also wear a hair-net
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED OR At least three years of professional working experience, preferred in a manufacturing environment, preferred folding carton manufacturing experience
Skills: Mechanical
Position will either work a 12-hour shift (day or night) which follows a 3-2-2-3 day schedule OR a 10-hour day shift that works 5-days per week; overtime during the week and weekends may be required based on production needs and vacation coverage
Preferred Characteristics:
At least five years of manufacturing environment, preferred folding carton manufacturing experience and in a position as a gluer (finishing) operator
