Department Summary

The Lifelong Learning and Community Engagement department oversees two programs, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UNT and the University Retiree Association, both of which support ongoing engagement with the university. OLLI at UNT is a lifelong learning program that offers non-credit courses and events designed by and for adults 50 and better. The UNT Retiree Association creates opportunities for retirees to stay engaged with the university through ongoing activities.

LLCE is housed in the Division of University Advancement which pursues the mission to promote the University of North Texas through inspiring the public to become involved with the growth and progress of the university.

Position Overview

The scope of the position is to collaborate with the Senior Director to develop plans and implement programming for OLLI at UNT and UNTRA in cooperation with community partners, university collaborators, members, and instructors. The Program Associate Director’s priority is to provide leadership and support with planning, organizing, and promoting all forms of OLLI at UNT and UNTRA activities. This position proactively supports the mission of and serves as an ambassador for University Advancement and the University of North Texas. It will report directly to the Senior Director of Lifelong Learning and Community Engagement at UNT.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and four years' of professional related experience; substitute education for experience only.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate must possess knowledge and skill in usage of the following software platforms.

Thorough knowledge of program related state and federal laws and regulations.

Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations orally and in writing.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and skill with the following software platforms:

Experience with community-based learning programs

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Experience working with older adults and/or philanthropic campaigns

Excellent customer service skills

Self-motivation and discipline to regularly set and achieve work goals

Demonstrate ability to take responsibility for a diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner

Demonstrate ability to collaborate with others as part of a team

Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge software a plus

Must hold a valid driver’s license

Job Duties:

Coordinate the Scheduling of OLLI at UNT and UNTRA Programming:

Coordinate scheduling and recruitment of OLLI instructors, maintaining an efficient, documented procedure.

Plan and organize OLLI at UNT and UNTRA social events, trips, and special activities in collaboration with the Senior Director.

Ensure accurate representation of OLLI and UNTRA schedules in communications with members and the public.

Serve as Liaison to the OLLI at UNT Curriculum Committee, preparing reports, reviewing proposals, and conveying recommendations.

Work with instructors to confirm course logistics and ensure accuracy in the CampusCE registration database.

Supporting the planning and execution of UNTRA events and attend related committee meetings.

Compile and present member evaluation reports for Curriculum Committee review, ensuring feedback is carefully considered.

General Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Senior Director on strategic planning, budgeting, and program implementation for OLLI at UNT and UNTRA events.

Manage event budgets, inventory, and purchasing using Pcard, the Requisition process, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to university procurement processes.

Organize and coordinate volunteers for event support with the OLLI Ambassador and UNTRA Programs Committee Chair.

Serve as the Host Liaison, ensuring consistent member experiences across all OLLI satellite locations.

Maintain and manage relationships with CampusCE customer support and stay updated on new features.

Supervise a student employee, assigning tasks to support departmental goals.

Represent OLLI at UNT and UNTRA in community and UNT-related engagements as needed.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm; some nights and weekends may be required.
